Troubleshooting

Heating and cooling system acting up? Below is a list of troubleshooting instructions to try before calling us!

A/C Troubleshooting
    1. Check the electrical panel – reset breakers for both heat and air conditioning units
    2. Check the emergency switch at the top of the basement stairs – is the switch on?
    3. Check the thermostat position:
      • Is the thermostat set to either cool or heat? If your system is zoned be sure both thermostats are set to the same function both A/C or both heat you can not have one for cool and one for heat
      • Is the cool temperature set below the room temperature?
      • If there are batteries in the thermostat, are they fresh?
    4. Check the disconnect at the air conditioner outside – is it in the on position?
    5. Check the heater switch on the side of the furnace – is it in the on position?
    6. Are the filters in the furnace clean?
    7. Be sure furnace door is on securely and turn switch on side of heater off and back on.
Heat Troubleshooting

      • Is the heat temperature set above the room temperature?
      • If there are batteries in the thermostat, are they fresh? 
    4. Check the heater switch on the side of the furnace – is it in the on position?
    5. Check the heater door – is the door on securely?
    6. Be sure furnace door is on securely and turn switch on side of heater off and back on.

If you have a propane system
Is the tank full?
If you have an oil system
1. Check – oil tank fuel level
2. Check – reset button (only hit this button once)
